Road Trip Adventure

I combined the vintage car from Gatsby with a sentiment from Think & Wonder. The background is an Illinois map that I wadded-up to wrinkle and then inked with distress inks (I always pick-up maps from the rest stops when we travel). The sentiment is stamped on a scrap of the same map.

Let's hit the road ...

Memorial Day

Today being the day we here in American remember those who gave their lives fighting for our country, I thought this card created from the Hero set was appropriate

Created by Louise Granlund

Daisy - Glimmer, Glam and Color

The background layer on this card was created, by employing various mediums combining two separate techniques: Glimmer Mist Water Color and Cuttlebug Highlights.    The next layer is a fun technique, where I  applied Createx and Luna lights paints on black glossy Cardstock..The Tim Holtz Sizzix die, Elegant Flourishes is painted with Folk Art Metallic blue paint and Ranger Distress Stickles. Tattered Angels Glimmer mist sprays were applied in all layers....The  gal on this card is the beautiful 'Daisy'  from Artistic Outpost's popular collection called  "Gatsby" Unfortunately my photography skills are not accomplished enough to showcase all the glimmer on this card.

Round the Corner ATC

This ATC was created with a "flapper" from Flapper Fashions
and the background from Windows and Doors.
I used Ranger Distress Stains applied with a brush
for all my coloring.  I stamped the verse
and cut it into little sections in order to fit it on the ATC.
So fun to combine these stamp sets!!!

On the Yellow Brick Road

C'est Magnifique

The lovely flapper from the Flapper Fashions plate looks beautiful framed in the Webster's Pages papers. All I had to do was stamp her and add a touch of color to work with the papers.  The Paris Exposition plate set the scene.  The Paris Exposition sentiment fit perfectly with the beautiful background.

Have a lovely weekend!

Trust The Lost Generation

Had a little fun with a play on words with the newest images Gatsby
A masculine tag and a Acrylic charm, a bit of grunge and
some distress inks all make for a little creative fun.

Memorial Day Tribute

Hi, Barbara here. Memorial Day is coming up in a few days, so I decided to do a tribute bookmark for the occasion. I went to two of my favorite stamp sets -- Hero and She-roes. I had the book mark plastic case in my stash, so I sized the bookmark to fit that. The bookmark is 2" x 7". I used two 4" pieces of red cardstock and embossed them in a Cuttlebug folder to get the stripes. Then I took 3" pieces of blue cardstock and embossed with the stars. I used titanium white pan pastels to highlight the stars and stripes. I adhered the pieces to a center piece of cardstock. I stamped the images in black on white. I wanted to keep the red, white, and blue theme. To complete the project I attached the ribbon to the holder and attached a muse token (Tim Holtz Idea-ology line) with the letter C and the word "Courageous". Now, if I could only find time to read, I have a great bookmark to use.

Explore. Dream. Discover.

I love this wonderful boat & sentiment from the Huck Finn plate. I think they would make a great graduation card.

I eye-balled two stampings of the boat on a piece of designer paper and finished with a wrap of sheer silver ribbon.

Reviving a Generation

Happy Vctoria Day to all my Canadian Friends

Generation Redux and the new release of Windows and Doors were a perfect mix for a new collage.
The backgrounds for this card are a blend of mediums and techniques from
Pat Stamps Technique Junkies:
Glimmer Marbling, Cuttlebug Hightlights and Glimmer Mist Water Colors.  Accent embellishments are Prima Flowers and Tim Holtz Grunge Flourish.

Let Freedom Ring

Hi, Lisa here, sharing a card for Armed Forces Day.  My focal image is from the Artistic Outpost Hero plate, it's stamped in Black Archival on watercolor paper, and colored using a morphed version of the Watercolor Distress Technique.  The Kraft panel is embossed with the Cuttlebug Stars folder, then highlighted with Ranger Pumice Stone Distress Ink.  I also embossed the Moss panel with the Stars Folder.  The word Freedom as well as the Wings come from the Artistic Outpost She-roes plate.

Let's Celebrate!

I had a little fun with the image from the Gatsby plate and put him with a bottle of the bubbly. The background was created by stamping a pattern using the champagne bottles.  The music background is from the Ephemeral Backgrounds plate.  The year 1922 (on the bottle in his hand and on the background) is from the Flappers Fashion plate.

Have a fabulous Friday!

Spring Birds

Lynn here with the sweet sounds of Spring.
Nothing like birds chirping and fluttering about that reminds you of the beauty of nature.
I used the new Windows and doors plate and the birds from Bluebird.

Scarecrow

The Scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz is one of my favorite fictional characters. And this scarecrow from the Oz Collage is just wonderful. For this card I stamped the image and tore the edges. The cardstock was colored using antique linen distress stain and edged with vintage photo. I restamped the scarecrow on watercolor paper and colored him using the watercolor marker technique. The background was made using the Cute Cuts technique from the 10-10 issue of Technique Junkies newsletter.  Strips of raffia embellish the image panel.

The World of Folly and Pleasure

 Gatsby
The generation  of the Great Gatsby was  a world of lavishness, pleasure and folly.  Artistic Outpost has created a stamp plate with images from this era, styled to take us back to this date.
I created the white background on this card applying mediums of  Gesso and Ranger Distress Inks.  To compliment the Gesso Background a simple technique of crumpling a paperbag and grazing with Distress inks...accentuates a male theme.   To add some bright color I applied Alcohol inks to the strip of metal.

A Style all your Own

I love to mix the images from different Artistic Outpost plates to create projects.  On this card I've used the sentiment from Think and Wonder, and the beautiful flourish from Serenity.  The Emboss Resist Technique was used on the Dress Form Die, sponging on Pumice and Burlap Distress Inks. To embellish the dress form, I added some stained Seam Binding, Mulberry Flower, Tulle and Gold Gems.

Think and Wonder

Hi, Lisa here today sharing a quick card, using the adorable children from the Artistic Outpost Think and Wonder Plate.

The image is stamped in Ranger Black Archival, sponging the edges of all papers with Ranger Pumice Stone Distress Ink. Pulling in the yellow from the bottom panel, I added color to the alpha letters with a Crushed Curry Marker.

F. Scott Fitzgerald

Hi Barbara here. This week I'm sharing a masculine card I made using stamps from the fantastic Gatsby stamp sheet. It's very much a CAS card, but I really think the stamps speak for themselves. I just love the image of Fitzgerald writing. I also used the quote of his. I stamped the car and cut it out so I could pop it in front of the image. The year is a stamp included on the stamp sheet Flapper Fashions.

A New Road

This card combines a sentiment and image from Windows & Doors stamped in charcoal in a piece of designer paper.
To create my glowing moon, I punched a 1 1/4" circle and used it as a mask. I sponged Yellow Citrus chalk ink for the base, and then added white & grey for shading. I added a piece of black rosette ribbon along the bottom.

The French Flapper 'Garconne'.

The Flapper History

The costume history image in our minds of a woman of the 'Roaring Twenties' is actually likely to be the image of a flapper. Flappers did not truly emerge until 1926. Flapper fashion embraced all things and styles modern. A fashionable flapper had short sleek hair, a shorter than average shapeless shift dress, a chest as flat as a board, wore make up and applied it in public, smoked with a long cigarette holder, exposed her limbs and epitomised the spirit of a reckless rebel who danced the nights away in the Jazz Age.

The French called the flapper fashion style the 'garçonne'.

Windows to Your Soul

This card began with a window image from Windows & Doors stamped inside the frame found on a 12" piece of Basic Grey Periphery paper. I used colored pencils to add some pink to the flowers.
My original intention was to stamp the sentiment once, but I managed to stamp it upside down. Since I really loved the effect of the window in the frame, rather than scrapping it, I started playing around stamping the sentiment multiple times in varying shades of blues and greys. I loved the finished effect ... gotta love those happy accidents.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all!
To celebrate this day I'm sharing a house collage using stamps from the Birds of Feather and Generation Redux sets.  I wanted to create the idea of different generations.-- grandmother, mother and daughters.
As an embellishment at the top of house #1 I cut a small oval from the lace at the bottom of the stamp in house #2.  I placed it in a small metal frame and then added some Glossy Accents.. Makes a perfect coordinating embellishment!

A Framed Daisy

Happy Mother's Day Weekend to all mothers!

Here's a mini framed piece I created with Daisy from Gatsby.  To make the image look like an old photo, I stamped it with Archival Jet Black ink on glossy cardstock and added a touch of Antique Linen and Vintage Photo Distress inks.  I added a few scratches and bends to the corners.  I added lots of ephemera to this frame!  I stained the ribbon flowers with Distress Stains as well as the ribbon.  There are buttons, some brown pearl gems left together as a string, a faux postage stamp, some lace and a stick pin with the year "1922"(image from Flapper Fashions).  The base is a die cut piece of cardstock with stained seam binding laced through the edge.  I added a bit of Distress Vintage Photo Stain to it, too.  I glued a piece of chipboard to the back and hinged another piece for an easel support.

Happy Mother's Day

It's May and Mother's Day is on Sunday. I thought I should share a Mother's Day Card I made. I went back in time to the Generation Redux stamp sheet for my focal image. I stamped the image and then used a Technique Junkie technique to cut out the image. I can't remember the exact name, but it is similar to Out-of-the-Box only it was cut using a circle die. I surrounded the image with little pearls. Of course pearls and lace go together. The sentiment is a combination of outline sticker alphabets and a stamp from Songbirds. The background panel is cut from a piece of Club Scrap paper.
Happy Mother's Day to everyone!
