Dabbed Shimmer Technique

Just had to try this beautiful technique from the February issue of Technique Junkies.

In this you play with shimmer paints and reinkers to make a lovely background. If you don't subscribe to TJ newsletter, you're missing out on a great reference with detailed instructions.

I was inspired by Shelly Hickox's card in this particular issue, where she also used the Birds of a Feather Artistic Outpost set to create a beautiful card.

Thanks for looking,

Six Impossible Things

I have always loved this quote, and was thrilled to finally have it in a stamp in the Wonderland Collage plate. I also love the fun Dodo bird, which I paper pieced and adorned with the fun crown. Papers are K&Company Que Sera Sera (orange) and Basic Grey Kioshi. I didn't have any black twine in my stash, so I colored white twine with a black Sharpie marker to finish the design.
I think the White Rabbit Collage is my favorite image in the set. I really like how the separate clock face image fits exactly over the partial clock image in the collage. I also stamped the clock face multiple times to create my background design.
The image is stamped on Pink Paislee Queen Bee designer paper and colored with Shimmer Chalks. I added a pom pom applicator from my Shimmer Chalks for the Bunny's tail.

NTSHGB...Wonderland Collage

Ever have that kind of week...seems like it's an expression of the times...with so many "things" on the schedule and so many ways to stay in touch. Maybe the new text phrase should be NTSHGB...but, I don't think it will catch on...:)

Thanks for looking...

Alice and the Queen

I thought this was the Queen of Hearts when I created the card, turns out it is the White Queen, maybe whoever I give the card to won't know  :)

I really wanted a chance to play with coloring the new Artistic Outpost, Wonderland Collage, stamp collection. I'm not real good with coloring my images, as it doesn't always look the way that I want it to.

So with this image, I colored it with Copics and then used the "wrinkle free" distress technique to age it. I wanted it to look like the image had been from an old children's book. I created the background the same way, using Distress Inks and flicking and spraying water until the colors blended to the right "weathered" look.

Thanks for looking,
Robyn

PS I used some of the new Distress Ink Colors, Stormy Sky and Bundled Sage. We now have them in stock in the Artistic Outpost store.

Flower Girl ATC

I created this ATC with a collage image from A Lovely Day. I stamped it 3 times: once for the base/background, next for the flowers and crown and 3rd for the girl.  Each element is colored with Copic markers and mounted with foam tape.  The shaded background was created with new Distress colors Chipped Sapphire and Victorian Velvet.

C'est Magnifique!

I am madly love with the Paris Exposition collection! It is incredibly versatile. This card uses the Faux Designer Paper technique from the Technique Junkie newsletter. With so many different images that coordinate so well, these stamps work beautifully with this technique.

Wonderland Collage - Curiouser and Curiouser

Here's a fun card created with the new Wonderland Collage plate and the Birds of a Feather plate.  The DoDo is stamped and colored on Watercolor paper, then covered with Eclipse tape so the background from Birds of a Feather can be stamped.  The Birdcage is embossed with the Damask Folder using Ten Second Studios Metal, then cut using the Bird Cage Die from Tim Holtz.  The embossed area is sanded to reveal the  Silver.

Artistic Outpost New Release - Wonderland Collage

Who doesn't love a good story with a lot of fantasy and a hint of quirk? Ok, so with Alice in Wonderland, you get more than a hint of quirk, you get a whole load of zany with a hint of logician philosophy.
We've pulled together some of the most zany iconic images from Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, to bring to you a fun collaged set of Alice-themed stamps.
The Wonderland Collage Collection by Artistic Outpost features unique images including the White Queen and the Dodo characters as well as an ATC sized White Rabbit collage. This set is available in unmounted sheets and mounted on EZMount cling foam with indexed storage sheet.

We can't wait to see what you create with these images!

Looking for inspiration using Wonderland Collage, be sure to check out the creations by some of our Design Team

Steampunk- A Man Among Boys

I just Love the new Steampunk images. I thought the fabric reminded me of the old time hats the conductors wore many years ago. I ran metallic card stock through the cuttle bug and made the train gate from a clock hand and a piece from an old typewriter.

Musical Bluebirds

I love how combining different colors and shapes can completely change the look of an image.

For this first card, the musical bird image from the Bluebird Plate was stamped in Olive Pastel Chalk ink, colored with Pebbles Pearlescent Chalks, and die cut with Spellbinders Nestabilities. Papers are Basic Grey Origins with Zva Creative pearl flourishes.

In the second card, the same Bluebird image was stamped in Creamy Brown chalk ink and colored with Prismacolor pencils ... a completely different effect.

Who are those two ladies?

A frequent question I get asked is "who" are the people in your stamps?" or "where do you get your vintage images?".

Our answer is everywhere...we use old family photos, we buy ephemera and old photos on etsy or eBay, and sometimes we get photos from friends.
This stamp from Generation Redux is actually my great grandmother, Hattie, on the lower left. The old photo says that the lady on the right is Mildred. This photo came to us from a distant relative and we still have not figured out who Mildred is / was. Was she her best friend? Cousin? Who are these two in your imagination? Sisters? Friends? Master quilters? Could they bake a cherry pie?
I have an active imagination...can you tell?
Hoping you have a wonderful creative week,
Robyn

SteamPunk Canvas

This is an altered canvas that I created using stamps from the SteamPunk collection. The canvas was first covered with vintage dictionary pages that were sanded and inked when they were dry. I used the back side of the canvas to created a little shadowbox which I filled with gears and other Steampunk-y things. The man was stamped on a little scrap of wood and colored with Distress ink.

Geek Love

Geek is Chic is one of my go to sets for guy cards. I'm not exactly sure what that says about the men in my life, but what can I say ... I ♥ nerds.

The card combines this week's sketch from the Jacksonbelle Embellishments blog with fun new Queen Bee papers from Pink Paislee (I thought the ledger paper worked particularly well with these great images).
