You Are a True Friend

I love the wonderful lacy background stamp in the new Jane's Countryside set. For this card, I used my square punch to punch out some "leftovers" I had after making several other cards (I hate to waste such a beautiful image).
The lace was stamped in vintage book pages with the fan & sentiment stamped in the margins of the same pages (love the natural aging on the sentiment tag). I think this card almost has an Asian flair when the images are presented this way.

Remember, today is the final day of the great Black Friday Sale at Artistic Outpost.

Jane Austen Easel Card

The images are stamped in Black Archival on Watercolor paper then colored using the Marker Watercoloring Technique. The house is matted behind the frame, Jane was cut out and added to the frame with dimensionals. The added sentiment is also from Jane's Countryside.

a rose 'ere blooming

Today, I have a card to share that I created with
stamps from Ave Maria.  I used the collage image centered
in the frame.  I created the DP for my card front by overstamping
the snowflakes with several ink colors, then rubbing more color
around the edges.  "Merry Christmas" is from Sleigh Ride.
I'll post more details on my blog.
Thanks for visiting!

Postoid People

The Creative Connection Challenge at the Gingersnap Creations Blog this month is Postoid People. I thought this fun, sort of creepy, stamp I found in my collection was perfect to top Mr. Bones from Artistic Outpost's Haunted Halloween.
After trying several sentiments, I finally decided on this one from Paris Exposition which roughly translates to "What's Up".

Artistic Outpost Releases Jane's Countyside

Jane's Countryside is Artistic Outpost's homage to Jane Austen, and the tortured romantic tales that she told in her timeless novels, such as Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, and Emma. This collection features Edwardian ladies dressed in their finery, original quotes from Jane herself, and a regal manor that could have served as the Austen family home.  Coordinating elements include a cameo, key, and a lacey ATC sized background.  Stamps are available in mounted and unmounted.

Be sure to stop by the Design Team members Blogs to see what they've created with our latest release:

Snowflake Wonderland Ornament

For this fun holiday ornament, I started by running the piece of chipboard (that I saved from the packaging of a new pair of pajama pants) through my Cuttlebug with the Sizzix Ornate Frame Back #7.

Next I inked the edges of the chipboard with Memories Port Red Ink & then cut a piece of gorgeous snowflake paper from the Webster's Pages Waiting for Santa/Sweet Season Collections using the same Die Cut. I stamped two different snowflakes from Artistic Outpost's Snowy Woods in Port Red ink and then adhered the paper to the chipboard ornament with glue stick.

Once it was dry, I punched a hole through the top to tie my ribbon hanger and embellished with a stamped sentiment from the Snowy Woods set and punched snowflakes adorned with pearls and bling. I love these happy winter hues.

There is No Place like Home

There really is no place like home. Even though vacations are fun and exciting at the end of the day you want to go home and sleep in your bed.
Dorothy talking with Toto is such a sweet image from the Oz Collage.  I had fun looking for coordinating papers to showcase her in her pretty gingham dress.

She is stamped three times and pieced together to get her pretty blue dress and ruby red shoes. The bow in her hair is the tiniest bit of red silk ribbon tied in a knot.

Have a happy Friday!

My fav in the Oz land is the Tin Man, how about you?  hugz, Gerrie

Tin Mans Heart

Happy Thursday! Lynn here. I' m sharing a little ATC I did using the Oz collage. The background was done using antiqued Glimmers. Wish the shimmer  showed better in the picture.

Over the Rainbow

Remember how the Wizard of Oz movie starts out in black and white, but when Dorothy flies over the rainbow, the movie is in color. That's what I thought about when I created this card. The background rainbow was airbrushed with Copics. Here Dorothy is telling Toto she doesn't think they're in Kansas any more. Aren't Dorothy and Toto adorable! Dorothy and Toto and the sentiment are from the newest Artistic Outpost stamp sheet, Oz Collage. I am having so much fun with these stamps. They are fun to use and so very versatile.

Wanted ... Brain

I thought Cosmo Cricket Wanted papers would be perfect to combine with the Artistic Outpost Oz Collage ... and I love the results. I love every Artistic Outpost set, but I must admit, this is one is becoming one of my favorites. I also love the play on words since each of the Book/Movie Characters "wanted" something.

The woodgrain paper that the scarecrow is stamped on reminds me of straw or a rattan place mat. I colored very heavily with Prismacolor Pencils and then went back with a soft eraser and used it to blend and remove color for shading. I used a sketch from Eat, Sleep, Stamp for my design. I cut the sentiment in half to make it work for the sketch & finished with some just packaging twine. When I unravel the ends of the twine, it reminds me of the texture of straw, which seemed perfect for the Scarecrow.

The OZ COLLAGE - JUDGING THE HEART

"Close your eyes and tap your heals three times.
And Think to ourself, there's no place like home".
The Wizard of Oz

The sentiment and inclining judgement of the  'Tin Man's Heart', is quietly and artistically arranged in this beautiful collage.  I love the quote and how the Tin Man hovers over Emerald City. This stamp image ranks high on my list for creating Artist Trading Cards. Check out the Gallery at the Artistic Outpost store and you will be sure to enjoy more creative works from the design team, showcasing the OZ COLLAGE stamp plate.
I used varied methods manipulating different mediums for the backgrounds on this card, from Technique Junkies Newsletter.

Vintage Christmas

Lisa here today! With Christmas right around the corner, I have two creations to share using the wonderful images from the Sleigh Ride Set

The trees from the Artistic Outpost Sleigh Ride set are stamped in Olive on Vanilla card stock, then cut with Spellbinders Oval dies, the edges sponged in Pumice Stone Distress Ink.  The focal image also from this plate is stamped in Black Archival on Watercolor paper and colored using the Marker Watercoloring Technique, then cut out, sponge the edges with Pumice Stone and adhere to panel.  For some added shimmer, I spritzed the card with Pearl Glimmer Mist.
I've had these beautiful snowflake frames in my alterable box for some time.  I picked them up at Kohl's last year on clearance.  I did a little masking with the Trees and Girls from Sleigh Ride plate, stamping the girls in Black Archival and coloring using the Marker Watercoloring Technique, then masking them and adding the beautiful Pine Trees in  Pine Distress Ink.  This makes for a quick gift or beautiful Home Decor piece.

Thanks for stopping by!

Emerald City

I love this image from Oz Collage of the Scarecrow riding the Cowardly Lion through the Emerald City.
I stamped the image & sentiment on ivory designer paper and colored with Prismacolor pencils.

True Heart

Happy Friday, Suzz here. I have one of my many Oz projects to share with you. The Tin Man with his big heart was a favorite of mine in the Wizard of Oz.

The Oz Collage has such a wonderful image of him and the perfect sentiment to make a sweet card.

As soon as I saw the tin man I wanted to stamp him on tin foil. The image and background are aluminum foil from the kitchen. The only trick is to back it with cardstock and when adhering it to cardstock you want to have a super fine adhesive or  you will see the lines through the aluminum.

Stamping on the aluminum requires StaZon, but that works in your favor, because if you are unhappy with the results you can use the cleaner and wipe it off and start again. :)

You can also add alcohol inks and markers to the foiled backgrounds.

Have a great weekend!

Suzz

There's No Place Like Home

I created this atc card using stamps from the Oz Collage set. Have I mentioned how much I love this set of stamps? (Probably several times already.) The background is stamped numerous times with the "There is no place like home" sentiment and an embellishment from Sleigh Ride. The ruby slippers were stamped and heat embossed on red cardstock. Then they were cut out and popped on the card.

If I Only Had a Brain ...

I love using 7gypsies Venice papers with these wonderful vintage Wizard of Oz images.
The Scare Crow and sentiment were stamped with ColorBox Chalk Pumpkin Spice ink and colored with Prismacolor pencils.

The ATC sized images make it so easy to make a coordinating card set.
The Tin Man was stamped in ColorBox Chalk Dark Brown and the heart/clock was highlighted with red Prismacolor Pencils.

The Strawman and Oz Collage

Scarecrow: Come along, Dorothy. You don't want any of *those* apples.
Apple Tree: Are you hinting my apples aren't what they ought to be?
Scarecrow: Oh, no. It's just that she doesn't like little green worms
Hello to readers and bloggers. Today I have a card showcasing the Strawman from the Oz collection.  I designed this card using various techniques from Technique Junkies Newsletter: Burnt Edges (02-07), Bleach Swipes (12-09), Faux Metal (06-10), and my favorite Distress Technique using Tim Holtz Distress Inks...Tim Holtz Ideology Film Strip Ribbon was the perfect embellishment to add a nice touch to this card.

Sweet as Cherry Pie

I combined Webster's Pages Sweet as Cherry Pie papers with Country Life stamps. I stamped the little farm boy (who reminds me of pictures of my Dad when he was young) in Hero Arts Cerulean Chalk ink and used Prismacolor Pencils to add color to his hat, hair & cheeks.

The sketch is from Skipping Stones and the inspiration was from The Shabby Tea Room.

Follow the Yellow Brick Road

Yeah! It is Friday! Suzz here.

This stair step card was so fun to create! I used three of the different images from the beautiful OZ collection.

The Dorothy and Toto image is so sweet.  How lovely that she is crouched down with Toto standing up.  To create the first step,  I stamped Dorothy multiple times to piece her together. She was stamped in black, blue and  red.  The images were colored using watercolor pencils and aqua brushes.

The lion and scarecrow were stamped using Versafine Vintage Sepia and colored using the watercolor pencils and aqua brushes.

I placed the scarecrow onto a toothpick as his stake in the cornfield. I didn't have the right forest or cornfields so a quick trip outside found my trees and corn. :)

My DH helped create my yellow brick road. he drew the road onto a piece of yellow cardstock and I cut it out and created my bricks. I had to trim out my road but I think it works.

Of course the whole time I was working on this card I had the song going around and around in my head from the scene with the Munchkins where they tell Dorothy to follow the yellow brick road.

Today is the last day for the Anniversary sale!  ALL rubber stamps are 20% off. That includes all unmounteds and mounteds. Simply use the code: Anniversary at check out to receive your discount.

If I Only Had a Brain

The new Oz Collage release is so much fun to play with. I love this image of the scarecrow against a diploma background. Here I used my Creative Inspirations paints to give him a shimmery look. I distressed the edges of the image and placed it on a torn frame background (Technique Junkies technique).  The black background layer is dry embossed with an alphabet folder and wrapped with raffia. The sentiment is torn and distressed. I think the distress look goes well with our friend the scarecrow.
Just a reminder that Artistic Outpost is celebrating their 3rd Anniversary, and you get the presents! ALL rubber stamps are 20% off from now until November 5, 2010. That includes all unmounteds and mounteds. Simply use the code: Anniversary at check out to receive your discount.

Follow The Yellow Brick Road

I love the Ruby Slippers from the new Oz Collage set. I inked the stamp with Versamark & then with Lipstick Red ColorBox Chalk Ink and embossed with Ranger Polysparkle Embossing Powder for an all-over glittery sparkle.
My yellow brick road was made by embossing yellow metallic cardstock with the Tim Holtz Alterations Bricked Embossing folder and then I used my finger to add Metallic Rub-ons to bring out the texture of the bricks. I finished with one of the great sentiments from the set & two red mosaic tiles.
