Simple Beauties

Happy Sunday!  It's me Shari and I've got a fun little something to share with you today--

--Or should I say three fun little something's to share with you?

I'm playing with dominos in a new way and using them as mini surfaces to create upon.   This is my first time creating 'domino art' and I wanted to do something fun and playful.  I've gathered this little collection of Artistic Outpost Beauties together to share an uncomplicated message--Enjoy Simple Beauty.

This lovely young cowgirl is from our Wander & Dream set and the quote of "Enjoy simple beauty" is from the Old Grist Mill stamp set.  I treated all of the dominos the same with several colors of alcohol inks and the images were all stamped onto tissue paper with Jet Black Archival ink and adhered onto the dominos with matte Decou-Page.

This smiling 'fisher of men' is from the Keeper stamp set.  Each domino was embellished with beads and jewelry parts.

And of course, I couldn't not include my favorite bespectacled vixen from our Generation Redux set.  When I was happy with the placements of beads, I coated each domino with Diamond Glaze and let air dry over night.

The next morning, I worked on the backs of the dominos.  I stamped the ledger page image in our Ephemera Backgrounds set onto tissue paper with Jet Black Archival and ripped it into domino size pieces.  I adhered to the surface with matte Decou-Page and heat set then adhered the word bands into place and coated with Diamond Glaze.  When all was dry on the surface, I attached each domino to a big brad head and let cure all day.

As these are my first crafty experiments using dominos and of course with crafty hindsight being 20/20, I've already realized I could have done so much more with these!!  Well, good thing I've got a whole box of dominos to play with because I don't think this will be the last time you see me using AO images with dominos!

Thank you so much for spending a little bit of your Sunday with me here at Artistic Outpost.  We've just started a new challenge month of Show Us Your AO Art so come on over with your Artistic Outpost creations!!  We'd love to have you and you've got a chance to win a $15.00 gift certificate to the Artistic Outpost online store!!

Wow Shari, I'm so glad we are going to see some more alterations with dominoes, these are fabulous and the AO stamps blend beautifully onto the dominoes. Love them !
