Love Potion #9

Happy Sunday-It's Shari here-Thanks for joining me today!!  Have you noticed that there's a lot of  wonderful Valentine's Day related crafty things being made out there in blogland?  All of these lovey-dovey creations get me thinking of some of my favorite love-themed songs.  I love music and will sometimes let song titles or lyrics take me down the crafting road.  I've gone back to the 1950's with an oldie but goodie - "Love Potion #9" to make my first Valentine's Day card of the season.

I'm blending the Apothecary & Secretary Pool stamp sets together to create this mixed media ode to the season of love. Other amorous ingredients include some of my pink & red Distress Stains & Inks, a bloom of Tattered Florals and that mysterious little bottle of 'Love Potion #9'.

This is the bottle image and text from the Apothecary set, that I stamped onto modeling film with Jet Black StazOn ink.  I colored it with Wild Plum Adirondack alcohol ink and an old alcohol ink from my very beginning crafty days called Studio 2 Ink-It in Watermelon.  I treated the bottle with gloss multi-medium, let dry, then applied a thin layer of Clear Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint and let that air dry and perform its crackle magic. I rubbed Black Soot Distress Ink over the surface to accentuate those wonderful cracks!

The tattered floral bloom is layered with stamped card stock, painted & inked tulle and backed with that fun, heart shaped, metal flower embellie-all attached together with a mini silver brad.  The prescription of love that this is attached to, has a heart stenciled background, Worn Lipstick brayed color and a spritz of Pewter Perfect Pearls mist.

Although the gent on this card is not a fortune teller, as the song details, he's quite the doctor of love and can compound a potion or two of his own.  I used the letters from the Secretary Pool to form the two doses of love text at the bottom, stamped in Picked Raspberry, Barn Door, Worn Lipstick and Black Soot Distress Inks.

Take a look at your Artistic Outpost stamps and see if you can transform them into a Valentine's Day card, or a birthday card, or any other kind of creation you'll need this year and bring it over to the monthly Show Us Your AO Art challenge.  It's anything goes with your AO stamps, so what are you waiting for?  Hope to see you there!
