Country Roads

Hello, Happy New Year and Happy Sunday!!  Shari here, for my very first Sunday posting as a new member of the Artistic Outpost Design Team.  I'm so very honored to be a part of this spectacular group and I'm super excited to be here, so let's get to it!

I've made a layered tag using the Kudzu Kafe and Home stamp sets with lots of fun techniques that really enhance these vintage and homey images.

My jumbo manila tag is treated with Wild Honey & Peeled Paint Distress Stains, which blended together to make a fantastically earthy background.  I randomly stamped the ticking image from the Kudzu Kafe plate, with Wild Honey Distress Ink, over the surface and stamped the quote "Country roads take me home" here and there over the surface, too. As the quote is part of the truck image, I used a Black Soot Distress Marker to color the text only, then I was able to stamp away on the jumbo tag.

On my smaller #8 manila tag, I've got a couple of people and the Kudzu Kafe image from the Kudzu Kafe stamp set.  I've water-colored the folks with Distress Markers and my waterbrush.  The kafé was stamped with Jet Black StazOn onto a manila panel that I had treated with an easy crackle paint technique using two colors of acrylic paint and Elmer's glue.

This truck could be my favorite part of this entire tag!  I stamped this truck with Vermillion Archival ink onto mixed-media stock and quickly covered with Antiquities Frosted Crystal embossing powder and heat set.  When cooled, the finish of this truck is matte and rough--just like a real, old vintage truck would feel!!  I added the bits of 'rust' to the panels of the truck with Distress Embossing Ink (applied with my finger) and Vintage Photo Distress embossing powder heat set.

Thank you for taking a little time out of your Sunday to visit with us and I hope you enjoyed my first offering as an Artistic Outpost DT member!  I've got a few step-outs of this tag at my blog, if you'd like to take a looksee-Otherwise, I'll see you all next week!

OH--Have you made any New Year resolutions?  May one of them be, 'To enter more creative challenges?'  Do you perhaps own a set or two or three of Artistic Outpost images?  Then there's nothing holding you back from satisfying a resolution and entering our January Show Us Your AO Art Challenge!  It's Anything Goes using Artistic Outpost stamps and you've got a chance to win a $15 Artistic Outpost gift certificate towards the purchase of stamps from the Artistic Outpost Website

I hope to see your Artistic Outpost creations there!
