Embark!

Hi all, lovely to have you stop by.  I'm sharing a Huck Finn tag today, using the wonderful nostalgic images from that plate.
The boys themselves are stamped on whitewashed book pages, and cut out.
The background has all sorts of blue and green sprays and inks within it (it was a mop-up tag), and then I added Fresco paints using a natural sponge.  And the tiny meadow grasses on the river bank are from the Generation Redux set, stamped in Olive Archival.
The boat was stamped in Cornflower Blue Archival, so that it really rests in the background... almost a dream of escape rather than a reality.  And if you look closely you'll see I've stamped it again, upside-down, to create a kind of reflection.  (Next time I might make the effort to create a proper mirror image!)
I added the magnificent bulrushes (a.k.a. cattails) which are a laser woodcut by UmWow Studios, and seemed the perfect addition to the river bank.
I added a couple of ChitChat stickers, and then mounted the whole thing onto some card covered with another book page, inked it and added some natural raffia and twine to top the whole thing off.
So there you have it!  Does it make you want to embark, voyage and discover too?
Come and share your Artistic Outpost projects with us in the February Referral Program, and you'll be entered into the Prize Draw, and perhaps be picked as one of our Top 3 for the month.  Hope to see you there!

This tag makes me so happy... dreaming of a time when the world was younger and more innocent and adventure was waiting.

I just love that meadow grasses stamp and can see why you use it so often.

This is really wonderful, Alison. The dimension you created is fantastic - love the way the boat just fades into the background and the hedgerow flowers in the foreground are terrific too. The cat tails are such a perfect embellishment!

Hugs,
Linda
