Happy Saturday
Everyone! Julie, here sharing a Mixed Media card designed with Hero and Grunge Elements stamp sets along with ODBD Custom
Dies- Double Stitched Circles, Circles and Sparkling Stars and the Patriotic Collection 6x6 Paper Pad (all available from Our
Daily Bread Designs).
This coming Monday
will be Memorial Day here in the United States, a day that we set aside to
honor those in the military who have died in service for our country. They are definitely “Heroes” to me and I
wanted to create a card in their honor. I am so thankful that they were willing
to sacrifice their lives for your freedom and mine- may their service to our
country always be remembered!
This card was fairly
easy to create with just a bit of preparation before layering. First, I inked the Hero military man image
with hickory smoke distress ink and stamped the image onto white
cardstock.
I used water based cherry and
navy markers to color the flag image and tea dye along with vintage photo
distress inks to “antique” the paper. The large splatter stamp along with the smaller corner splatter image from Grunge Elements were stamped with vintage photo distress ink to add a bit of texture.
The image was die cut and embossed using the Double Stitched Circle Dies
and mounted onto a navy cardstock circle (die cut and embossed with the Circles Dies).
The sentiment from
Hero was stamped with navy ink onto white cardstock, “antiqued” with tea dye
and vintage photo distress ink before trimming and mounting onto navy
cardstock.
The stars were die
cut and embossed using the Sparkling Stars Dies from navy cardstock as well as
the Patriotic Collection 6x6 Paper Pad.
For the background panel,
I trimmed a piece of the Patriotic Collection 6x6 Paper to 4” x 5 ¼”, distressed
the edges, applied tea dye and vintage photo distress ink over the entire panel
followed by picket fence distress stain and once dried, stenciled the stars
with a crackled texture paste.
After the crackled
texture paste dried, I applied a layer of mod podge over the background panel,
the circle die cut image and the sentiment before mounting all onto the navy
and cherry card base.
I hope all of you
have a wonderful week and thanks again for taking the time to stop by! If you
have a chance to create a project with your Artistic Outpost stamps, we would love for you to share
it with us on Artistic Outpost Facebook page!
