Happy Saturday
Everyone! Julie here, sharing a Mixed
Media card designed with the brand new Artistic Outpost (AO)
stamp set, The Captain and the new AO Steampunk Gears Dies, AO Vagabond Treasures Collection 6x6 Paper Pad along with the previously released AO Ephemera Backgrounds stamp set and ODBD Circles Dies and Pierced Circles Dies (all available
from Our Daily Bread Designs).
To create this card,
I die cut an opening in the AO Vagabond Treasures Collection paper for the “porthole”
using ODBD Circles Dies and added additional texture to the background with the
ledger stamp from the AO Ephemera Backgrounds stamp set as well as crackle texture paste
using a stencil and palette knife.
To finish off the
porthole, I die cut and embossed dark brown cardstock with the ODBD Pierced Circles Dies and applied brass and copper distress stain over the paper to
create a metallic appearance.
I stamped the ship
image from the AO The Captain stamp set with archival black ink and heat embossed
the image with clear embossing powder before adding the watercolor with
distress inks. I added the compass image
from AO The Captain stamp set in the corner of the
panel and lightly stamped the AO Ephemera Backgrounds ledger stamp to further
distress the paper.
Once the texture
paste had dried, I mounted the stamped ship image behind the die cut circle,
distressed the edges of the panel and mounted the entire panel onto a piece of
vanilla cardstock, distressing the edges again.
I added the die cut
layered circles over the “porthole” opening of the ship and added antique brass
brads around the circle.
I finished off the
card by adhering the die cuts from dark brown paper using the AO Steampunk Gears Dies with brads (adding with brass and copper distress stain to the gears to mimic metal) and the
sentiment from the AO The Captain stamp set.
Thanks for stopping
by! I had fun creating this Mixed Media card, and if you have time to relax and
create a project using any of your Artistic Outpost stamps, we would love it if you would
share your artwork with us on Artistic Outpost Facebook page!
