Happy Saturday
Everyone! Julie here, with a Mixed Media
card in honor of Memorial Day using Grunge Elements from the Artistic Outpost Spring Release along with Hero and Ephemera Backgrounds and the Patriotic Paper Collection from Our Daily Bread Designs.
Memorial Day is Monday, May 30th in the United States and we can never forget those who
sacrificed their lives for our freedom- they are all heroes!
To create the main
panel for this card, the Ephemera Backgrounds images were stamped to depict a
collage effect with water-based inks onto white cardstock- the Telegram image and Postcard image using a denim blue ink and the Ledger image
with cherry ink.
After stamping the collage, I sponged Tim Holtz®
Tea Dye Distress Ink over the entire panel and added Grunge Elements images
with Tim Holtz® Tea Dye and Vintage Photo Distress Ink.
I decided to add Gesso® to
tone down the background, stamped a few more Grunge Elements onto
the panel to build up the collage, distressed the edges with a distressing tool, mounted the panel onto cherry cardstock, trimmed and mounted onto the denim
blue card base.
I used markers to
color the serviceman focal image from Hero directly onto the stamp, “huffed” onto the stamp to
moisten the ink, stamped onto white cardstock, trimmed the panel, mounted onto denim blue cardstock and "antiqued" the paper in the same manner as the background panel.
I cut a strip of the ODBD Patriotic Collection 6x6 Paper,
embossed it with a star embossing folder, lightly sanded the embossing
and mounted onto a piece of denim blue cardstock before adhering to the card
front.
I stamped the
sentiment from Hero with denim blue ink onto white cardstock and die cut with the ODBD Rectangles Dies(distressed as noted above for the focal
image) and mounted onto a denim blue rectangle die cut using the ODBD Double Stitched Rectangles Dies.
I created two of the
stars from the same pattern piece of the ODBD Patriotic Collection Paper, the flag star was created with the large flag image from Hero and all three were die cut with the ODBD Sparkling Stars Dies, “antiqued”
with Tea Dye Distress Ink and Gesso®, mounted onto the denim blue cardstock and fussy-cut a small frame around each star.
I added the
sentiment, focal image and stars with dimensional foam to finish off the card.
Don’t forget, there are only a few more days left to enter your artwork into the “May Show Us Your AO Art
Challenge” – please click here for details.
Thanks again for
stopping by- I hope you have a very relaxing and safe weekend!
