She Has a Song

Happy Sunday & Happy First Day of Spring!!  It's me Shari and I may be just a bit giddy today!  It's been such a gorgeous weather week here in the mountains of North Idaho-we've had more blue sky and sunny days than wet, grey and rainy ones--and our seasonal American Robins are coming back to their Summer 'vacation' homes in larger numbers every day.

Inspired once again by our feathered friends, I created this card using our Birds of a Feather & Serenity stamp sets, to celebrate their return and the return of warmer days filled with sunshine!  I've got just a few pictures to share from the making of today's project, as I don't want to keep you here very long, on this First Day of Spring--

I haven't had a play with my gelli plate in a while, so I brought out the 5" x 7" size, some DAM Fluid Acrylics and Andy Skinner's Sunburst stencil.

I applied dots of Green Gold and Cobalt Teal Hue onto the gelli plate and used a brayer to blend.

I laid the sunburst stencil over the gelli plate, then brayered Cadmium Orange over the surface.

I lifted the stencil from the gelli plate and was very happy with what I see here--

I took a piece of mixed-media paper and pressed over the gelli plate surface, then I gently lifted the paper and this is the print I received.

On a separate piece of mixed-media paper, I stamped this Robin, found in our Birds of a Feather set, with Jet Black Archival and water colored with Distress Markers and my water brush.  I stamped the quote, from our Serenity set, onto white card stock with Jet Black Archival and fussy cut into word bands.

I adhered everything onto the gelli print background with matte Decou-Page and added the black enamel dots onto each corner for a little bit of embellishment and attached the finished panel to a green card base.

Thanks so much for joining me here at Artistic Outpost today!  Don't forget about our Show Us Your AO Art Challenge--it's open until March 31st @ 11:55pm CDT, so bring your Artistic Outpost creations over for a chance to win a $15.00 gift certificate towards the purchase of any of our Artistic Outpost stamps!

Wonderful card Shari, the bird looks as if she's just about to fly off and enjoy the day.

A lovely bright card, Shari! You gave me the last kick I needed to take out my gelli plate again. Thanks.

I love the way you've followed (mimicked?) the circular stenciling with the word bands. Happy Spring to you, too! xoxo
