Traintrack Triptych

Hello everyone, Alison here again... and today I'm pulling out a project from the archives!  This one was actually created before I was even on the Design Team here at Artistic Outpost.  I really wanted to share it with you, as it's one of my favourite early makes from when I'd really only just started all this crafting business, and I think many of you won't have seen it.

It mainly uses stamps from the fabulous SteamPunk stamp plate, but even then I was mixing and matching my AO sets, as you'll see...

I created a trio of panels, trimming the top edge with the Brackets On the Edge die.  On the back I glued a collage of encyclopaedia pages which had a large locomotive running across them.

Then I added some inking, stencilling, and stamped some of the lovely whirling circles from the Whimsical Melange set.

I fastened it all together with "train tracks" of tissue tape, inked to blend in with the colour palette (yes, very much in blue and brown mode!).

For the front of the panels, I stamped some more of the Whimsical Melange circles onto the card, and then stamped the wonderful train and station from the SteamPunk set onto tissue paper.  

In fact, I stamped the train twice, so that I could reverse one of them and have it coming in from opposite directions.

I glued the tissue paper down leaving plenty of wrinkly texture around the place, but making sure not to disturb the beautiful detailing on these amazing vintage images.

And I had lots of fun playing with those swirls of smoke, adding strokes of paint in mixed colours to give it real texture and substance.

A few Idea-ology bits of steampunkery in the form of some cogs and gears add the finishing touches, and echo the stamped circles under the tissue paper.
