Keep Calm And Carry On

A little wall hanging I created to remind me to Keep Calm and Carry On.  I used the
London Underground and Loverly London stamp sets and set it against some painted cardboard.   I added a few metal hangers I came upon this week at the top and bottom to create a little hanging.

Christmas Wishes

Hi Lisa here today to share a non-traditional colored Christmas card using images from Frosty & Friends.

I stamped Frosty in Ranger Coffee Archival on Vanilla card stock, coloring the image with a Saffron marker.  The edges are sponged with Ranger Walnut Stain Distress ink.  The Kraft panel is embossed with a Texture Fades folder and highlighted with Jenni Bowlin Malted Milk Paint Dabber.  The seam binding is dyed with Walnut Stain Distress Stain.  To get the variegated color in the seam binding, I spritzed first before dying.  To embellish, I added the Bells and a holiday tag.

Merry Christmas in Green

I'm still hooked on Frosty and Friends!
This little deer is just the cutest!
For this card, I used green ink for stamping.  I wanted the tree
to be green so that's why I tried it.  I really like it!
I added a touch of brown ink to the deer with a nib.
I used a glue pen on the snowy areas and added Prisma glitter.
There's also glitter at the bottom edge of the card.  I scribbled
with the glue pen, smeared it with my finger and added glitter.

Thanks for visiting!

Eye on London

Happy Friday!

I had fun mixing up the London Underground  with the Paris Exposition and the Ephemeral Backgrounds. Simple layering of stamps and sponging of distress inks.

The Ferris wheel is stamped on acetate using StaZon and pop dotted to give depth.  London is accented with white enamel.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Christmas Lass

This little cutie would bring a smile to even Scrooge's face. She is one of the friends on the new release Frosty and Friends. For my card I created the background using one of the Christmas texture fades by Tim Holtz. The focal image was stamped, colored with Copics and Creative Inspiration Paints (muff and fur) and cut out. The frame is diecut using  a Hearfelt Creations/Spellbinders die. I used a holographic cardstock which has stars all over it. The pointsettias are from a set of stickers I had.  doesn't she bring a festive feeling to Christmas?

Frosty Tag

I love the retro images on the Frosty & Friends set.  This snowman image is so cheery!
This tag can be used as a gift tag or to create a card.  I stamped Frosty twice and then cut him out to pop him and his little bird friend up a bit.  I embossed him in black to make the image sharper.  I also added a little silver sparkle to his ear muff and hat.

Christmas Wishes in Purple

Hello everyone!
I'm sure having fun with all the cute Frosty and Friends images!
For this holiday card, I stepped out of "my box" by using purple!
I used dye inks to watercolor this cute little girl.  I added sparkly
embossing powder to the fur on her hat and muff.  Lots of layers
of mats, lace, ribbon and some tiny holly die cuts.  I used a stick pin
to hold the greeting in place.

Apothecary ATC

This was a fun ATC I created using the newly released Apothecary set of stamps. The pharmacy is the perfect size for an ATC. I stamped it with Sepia ink on an atc card. The edges are edges with Pumice stone distress ink. The word apothecary was stamped in black over the building. On top of everything I stamped the tonic bottle with Versamark and embossed it with clear embossing powder. Then I added the Fountain of Youth label to the bottle. I want, no, I need some of that elixir.

Help us STAMP OUT breast cancer!

Shelley Carr, co-owner, of Artistic Outpost, and my BFF is walking 60 miles in 3 days to raise money for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer foundation.

Her mom and aunt are both breast cancer survivors, and she has trained 15 miles / day on the weekends for the last 2 months.  I have walked with her in the heat of summer for at most 5 miles, before I faded and had to come in for some Diet Coke and some air conditioning.

I am so proud of her.  Artistic Outpost is supporting Shelley and her quest by donating all proceeds from our specially designed shirts and tote bags available here.

She has 5 weeks left to raise $3000!  I know with our help she can do it.

Here's the most excellent part for you.  When you purchase one of the "Stamp Out Breast Cancer" items from our Artistic Outpost LLC Brand Store, you will know that you are supporting a great cause, but you will also receive a special coupon from us for 25% your next AO stamp purchase.   A Great Cause and a GREAT deal!!!

Thanks for helping us, and thanks as always for letting us be a part of your crafting world!

Apothecary Bottle

This skinny bottle I found in an antique shop seemed the perfect shape to alter with the new Apothecary stamps.  It's not really a magic elixir inside, just some peach iced tea I had in the fridge:)

Why Fit In?

Be yourself....Be Unique...Let your colors shine!

It's almost back to school time, and I thought the sweet children from Think & Wonder would look wonderful on a Library Pocket card.  I added the script from the Ephemeral plate to the pocket insert, and stamped Think and Wonder in Teal.

The bottom corner reads "why fit in", on the inside of the card I added "when you were born to stand out".  This sentiment can be found on the Think & Wonder plate.  To finish my card, I added some dyed Seam Binding, Stick Pins and a Glassine Embossed flower I created with Spellbinders Dies.

Frosty the Snowman

This happy little fellow looks so chipper in his scarf and hat!  I love the Frosty image in the Frosty and Friends plate. He is iconic and works beautifully for Christmas cards.

The image is stamped four times and layered to give depth. He also is sporting a set of fuzzy ear muffs, gloves and scarf.  I added some fun flock to his accessories. His hat received a coating of glossy accents to create the shine. The felt ric rac was added to compliment his fun gloves and scarf.

Jolly Santa

My card this week uses this fabulous image of Santa Claus from the new stamp release, Frosty & Friends. I am totally in love with these images. I think it's because they remind me of my childhood in the '50's. (Shhh, don't tell anyone). For the background I used the double bugging technique from the June/July 2009 Technique Junkies newsletter. First I stamped "Merry Christmas" on the panel and embossed it  using the music folder and highlighted the embossing with mustard seed distress ink. I then embossed the panel with the wreath and highlighted it with Smooch paint. Santa was stamped and colored with Copics with his beard painted with Creative Inspiration paint for texture. I cut Santa out and adhered him to the wreath. I used the TJ technique curled corners on the image panel and adhered it to a red card base. Does this put you in the Christmas spirit yet?

Fountain of Youth ... if only it were as simple as drinking from a bottle.

I combined images from the Apothecary set with Moulin Rouge papers from Prima for my youthful design.

Loverly London and the Grace of Hats

The history of Women's Fashions, the shift and trends during and after World War ll clearly was a  paradigm transformation of their status in society...   The hat you wore, seemingly depicted one's status in society. London was a leader in the design and millinery craft of Hats.  Can you imagine this era; and, the treasure trove of bonnets and head gear the women of London collected in their closests.

For this card, I designed the background with Tim Holtz Distress Inks and Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist spray. I stamped the altered  background with an image  from Artistic Outpost stamp collection:  Ephemeral Backgrounds.  The frame is a dicut from my Cricut Cartridge " Storybook ".  The silk flowers are from Prima. The image of the lady is from Artistic Outpost's collection: Loverly London.

Tiny Reindeer Greetings

Are you thinking Christmas yet?  I often think I should start my Christmas cards early but I usually don't!
If you're thinking of starting early, the new Frosty and Friends set is perfect for making Christmas cards!!  So many cute images and greetings!  I love the retro look!

For this card, I stamped this cute tiny reindeer!  I chose to keep my card very simple.  He's colored with Copic markers.  The tree and "greetings" were stamped separately.  I colored the stamps with water based markers to get a green tree and green and red on the note.  Both are cut out and glued over my main image.
The background was an experiment with embossing and glitter.  It makes a sparkly card front!  Wish it showed up better in my photo!

Have a creative day!

Halloween Treats

The new Halloween Treats plate is wonderful for creating Halloween Treat holders, or perfect to mix with other Artistic Outpost Halloween collections as well as the new Apothecary plate!

I used some of the images from the Halloween Treats plate to create a Test Tube Treat Holder. The images are stamped in Black on Vanilla Card stock, to add color to the Vanilla panels I used the Watercolor Distress Technique, using Rangers Distress Stains, then added a bit of color to the images.  For the Labels, I stamped the images on Vinyl using Ranger Black Archival Ink, heat set, then added Distress Stain and heated again.  Cut out and apply to Test Tubes.  Test Tube Holder patterns can be found on the sidebar of my blog.

Christmas Scenes

The sweet vintage images from the Frosty and Friends brings back images of old Christmas cards.

I created my first card using the adorable girl from Frosty and Friends and her Christmas finery:
I looked for some paper and embellishments to showcase her lovely outfit. She was stamped and colored using watercolor pencils. Layered onto a doily and pattern paper which were sponged to soften the effect.

The next card was inspired by the Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer show.  I remembered the opening scenes with Burl Ives as the snowman gliding across the snow. I tried to recreate that layered effect with the front of my card:
The front of the card is cut out to allow for another layer with the trees and frosty in the background. This could have easily been a shaker card.  The images are from Frosty and Friends, Vintage Halloween, Ephemeral Background.

Hope the wintry images helped cool you off!  We have been pretty warm and muggy here. :)

Have a lovely weekend!

Halloween Treats

Are you thinking about Halloween yet?
I know it may be hard with temperatures soaring in the 90's or 100's
but it will be here before we know it.
So to get you thinking in that direction how about a fun Halloween Treat cone?
I stamped and embossed the NEW images
Halloween Treats
and used the Rosette die on some fun Halloween paper and a little glitter,
Added a few fibers and its ready to fill with your favorite treats.
Think I'll wait on the chocolate till its a bit cooler. LOL

Halloween Treats

The new Halloween Treats stamps are a lot of fun. I thought I'd play a little on this card with these new stamps. I cut out banner pennants using the Spellbinders dies. On one I embossed a spiderweb. and on the other I stamped and heat embossed the creepy spider from the set. The label for arachnid legs seemed so appropriate for the card. The Happy Halloween circle from Haunted Halloween and the orange and black colors finished this fun Halloween card.
