Ice Cream Man

Hello There!! Thanks for joining me today--It's me Shari with you on this lovely Sunday!  Today, I'm sharing the card I featured during last month's New Release Blog Hop that I made using our new Ice Cream Shoppe and Grunge Elements stamp sets.

Let me show you a little bit of what I did--

I'm loving the new Ice Cream Shoppe stamp set--the images are so fun and kitschy!

Inspired by my (artistically awesome!) fellow AO DTmate Tracy, I used a piece of acetate to apply color to my background panel.  I smooshed Distress Inks directly onto the acetate, spritzed with water, then pressed down onto a piece of mixed-media paper.

Using the same colors of Distress Inks that I colored the background with, I stamped the water rings and speckles images from our New Grunge Elements onto the water colored panel.

Here's a close-up of the background with those wonderful water rings and speckles!  I ended up adding polka dots and paint lines to the background just to add a little additional interest and texture.

Behind the scenes, I stamped this happy 'Ice Cream Man', the two ice cream treats and the quote onto mixed-media paper with Jet Black Archival.  I water colored the treats and the man with Distress Markers and my water brush.

I painted the cherries on top with a touch of DAM Pyrrole Red acrylic, heat set then dabbed a dot of Diamond Glaze over the paint to create the dimension and shine of an itty bitty little maraschino cherry--YUM!

I ran the panel through my sewing machine to add the stitched border then adhered all of the fussy cut elements onto the background with matte Decou-Page and  attached the finished panel to a pink card base.

Thanks again for joining me today!  Oh, before I forget--we're half way through our monthly Show Us Your AO Art Challenge for April.  Get your AO creations in by 11:55pm CDT April 30th for a chance to win a $15.00 gift code towards the purchase of Artistic Outpost stamps!  Come On--Show Us Your AO Art!!
