Cowgirl Valentine

Howdy There!!  Thanks for joining me here at the Artistic Outpost Blog today for my weekly project--Hope you're all having a Fab Sunday!!  I'm trying to change my creative mood from Winter into any other season, really, but today, I've got a little mixed-media canvas to share, that might invoke the Season of Love...

I think if a young woman states she'll be your Valentine, you better listen, especially accompanied with eyes like these!!  This vexing vixen is from our Cowgirl Strength stamp set--Love Her!-and I just had to make her center stage on this fun little canvas.

This canvas is 3 3/4" x 4" and I gave it a coating of white gesso and added a few pieces of book page.

I pressed Barn Door, Picked Raspberry & Seedless Preserves Distress Paints onto the TH Hearts stencil and spritzed with water.

I pressed the stencil onto the canvas and blotted away any excess with a paper towel.  I heat set then laid the stencil back down into place.

I applied a layer of Crackled Texture Paste through the stencil with my palette knife and set aside to air dry.

I die cut a bunch of Tattered Florals out of red, pink and burgundy card stocks and stamped with images from our Ephemera Backgrounds, The Outpost & Kudzu Kafe stamp sets.

I spritzed the stamped flowers with water and wadded into little balls and let air dry.  When they were dry, I rubbed them with Ground Espresso DI then opened each flower and inked the edges, too.  I also had some previously cut tulle Tattered Florals, that I brushed with some white gesso and spritzed with Candied Apple DSS.

I stamped this silent beauty onto coffee stained mixed-media paper with Jet Black Archival, heat embossed with clear EP and fussy cut.  I had also stamped the entire image onto tissue paper and adhered to the surface of the canvas with matte Decou-Page--you can kind of see the frame around her.

I adhered my Cowgirl Valentine image onto the canvas with matte Decou-Page and outlined her with a wash of DAM Translucent White Acrylic and heat set, then I outlined her again with Hickory Smoke DI using my water brush.

I stamped the quote out onto coffee stained mixed-media paper using alphabet stamps that I have, and fussy cut into word bands.  Those got mounted onto black card stock and adhered to the canvas with matte Decou-Page, then I hot glued the finished Tattered Floral into place.

Thanks again for stopping by today!  I sure enjoy being here to share weekly projects with you--How about sharing your Artistic Outpost art with us?

Shari,
She definitely has her sight set on someone!
Love the use of the heart stencil and the use of the die cuts to give those fabulous distressed blossoms. So clever to edge the image, definitely brings definition to the female.
Fabulous canvas.
