Toy Emporium Ornaments

Happy Sunday Everyone!!  I shared a sneak peek of these Christmas ornaments during our AO DT Blog Hop last month and today I'm showing you how I made these festive and vintagey ornaments.

I used our new Toy Emporium stamps along with images from Snowy Woods, MidwinterChristmas Chalk to alter these three laser cut wood flower shapes into little ornaments of Christmas cheer!

I painted the front and backs of each laser cut bloom with Distress Paints in Barn Door, Cracked Pistachio and Salty Ocean.  I heat set then brushed a layer of Weathered Wood Crackle Medium onto each side and let air dry.

When the crackle medium was dry, I brushed a coat of DecoArt Media Crackle Paint over the surfaces and watched those cracks appear like magic.  This is the 'Andy Skinner Mega Crackle' technique and I just love it!!

Here are all of the ornaments in various stages of assembly.  Each focal image is from the Toy Emporium set and I've embellished using the snowflake trio from Snowy Woods and the little cabin from our Midwinter set.

I made a fabric hanger for each ornament using thin strips of cotton muslin.

I ran each piece of muslin through my sewing machine to add a stitched center line and with the longest piece of muslin, I formed this messy bow.

All of the sentiments on the backsides of the ornaments are from our Christmas Chalk set.  I stamped each greeting onto tissue paper with Jet Black Archival, carefully fussy cut, then adhered to the surface with matte Decou-Page.

I kept the embellies simple on this ornament, using self-adhesive rhinestones and a little bit of texture paste sprinkled with Clear Rock Candy Distress glitter.

I also gave two of these ornaments small blooms of tattered poinsettias, created using painted tulle and red kraft core stock.  I created the glittery centers by brushing a coating of matte Decou-page on the head of the brad then dipping it into Mustard Seed Distress Glitter.

Gosh, now I can't decide if I'm going to be giving these away as little Christmas keepsakes, or am I going to keep for myself?!  Good thing I can always craft some more of these little ornaments!!

Thanks so much for stopping by and spending a bit of your Sunday with me.  I'll be back next week with a little something I've made using our new Go Team set that I'm sure will be a crowd pleaser!!

They are adorable and the perfect stamp selection. The detail of running the muslin through the sewing machine showcases so perfectly your eye for detail and I love the mega crackles!

These are so my style! And I believe simple enough that I could get OK results. I have signed up for an ornament giveaway with The Rusty Thimble Blog and these would be perfect! Thank you so much.
