Enjoy Simple Beauty

Hi There! Shari here with you today--Which means it's Sunday and another crafty week is coming to an end.  I ended my week out with working on a set of rustic postcards I made using the covered bridge image from our Old Grist Mill set.

I chose this more detailed image to practice the technique of water coloring, using Distress Markers and my detailed water brush.

I also wanted to see what the water color effect would look like with three different colored stamped images.  I chose Cobalt, Sepia and Jet Black Archival inks to stamp the covered bridge image onto mixed-media paper.

After applying my layers of water coloring with Distress Markers, I sealed the postcards with matte Decou-Page, heat seat, then brushed a layer of Crackle Glaze over the surface and let air dry.

On the backside of the postcards, I adhered pieces of Rustic Beauty paper from ODBD that I lightly sanded and dry brushed with Gathered Twigs DP.  I stamped the 'PostCard' image from the Ephemera Backgrounds set onto the top of each card with Jet Black Archival, then rubbed the edges and surface with Vintage Photo DI, then rubbed Black Soot DP over the edges with my finger and heat set.

The sentiment, also from the Old Grist Mill set, was stamped onto tissue paper with Jet Black Archival and carefully fussy ripped.  I adhered to each corner of the postcards with matte Decou-Page and heat set.  I rubbed the entire crackly surface of the cards with Vintage Photo DI and Walnut Stain DI.

I hope you enjoyed these rustic postcards that I brought you today.  I do have a few behind the scene details of my water coloring process available at my blog, if you'd like to pop over and have a looksee!

Thank you for joining me here at Artistic Outpost today!  I'll see you here again next week!!
