Kudzu Wisdom

Hi There! It's me Shari and I'm back with you today sharing a canvas board that almost went into the trash can!  I was so disappointed with what I was originally doing on this and I thought there was no way to camouflage the 'damage' that I had done.  But, alas--one of my favorite Artistic Outpost stamp sets came to the rescue....Kudzu Kafe!!

I had a bit of a 'mojo has left the building' moment when I was initially working on this canvas board-just, not happy with it at all.  When all else fails, it's OK to return to your comfort zone.  Sometimes, that's just the thing you need to get your creative mojo back--go back to what you know, and the creativity will flow!!

I won't go into the details of what's behind this tissue paper (you can find a brief before picture at my blog), but this is how I camouflaged it.  This is a 5" x 7" canvas board, that I coated with gesso, then laid a piece of TH Melange Tissue Wrap over the wet paint and rubbed into place with my fingers.

I applied Abandoned Coral DP on the top half of the panel and Mermaid Lagoon DP on the bottom half then rubbed in with a baby wipe.  I love these two colors together!  Can you see the little rain drop looking nubbies back there?  That's from my original plan that I wasn't happy with, but here, they add a bit of fun textural interest in the background, that you may or may not see in the finished piece!

Oh this Kudzu Girl-I just love her to pieces!!  As one of the tenants of Kudzu Wisdom is to 'be silly', I gave her a pair of wire antennae that I coated with Black Diamond Stickles.  You can see some of the glitter sparkling in the sunshine!

I did some random stamping in the background using one of the flourishy images from the Serenity stamp set with Cobalt Archival.  I also added some random stenciling using my Dylusions Letter Jumble stencil with Scattered Straw DP and Black Soot DI.  The circles were created using a paint cap dipped in Picket Fence DP and Prussian Blue Hue DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic.  To finish the board off, I applied tissue tape to the edges to frame the entire piece easily and neatly.

Thanks so much for joining me today!  I'll see you again next week!!

What a super idea using your tissue paper in the background and bringing the wings to the forefront. Such a clever design Shari, so glad Mr Mojo reappeared.

I've had quite a few projects that almost got tossed. Thank goodness they didn't...they were some of my first sales. I love your canvas! You did a phenomenal job on it. Sometimes the flaws are what bring it together in the end! Keep up the great work!!!
