Down by the Sea

Hello, Hello!!  It's me Shari and that means it's Sunday and that also means another week of July has flown by!  How is this happening so quickly?  Where do these days get off to?  Maybe, Down by the Sea, perhaps?

I'm still having a play with our Boardwalk stamp set--There are so many fun images in this set, the possibilities are endless!!

For today's card, I'm also having a go with the Ken Oliver Color Bursts, too.  I used his Ultramarine Blue & Pthalo Green CBs to create the vibrant blue and green background. I also did some stenciling using the Bubbles layering stencil and transparent texture paste.

This vintagey gent was stamped onto mixed-media paper with Jet Black Archival and water colored with Distress Markers and my water brush.  I fussy cut him and mounted him to the section of 'wood decking'  that I created out of stained craft sticks (aka popsicle sticks).  When he was set in place, I outlined him with Black Soot DM and my water brush, then I gave him an outline with my white gel pen.  For a little more interest, I hot glued the little shells in place and sprinkled the microbeads over the areas that had exposed glue.

The quote and token image were stamped onto mixed-media paper that I used to sop up all of the left over Color Bursts with.  I used Jet Black Archival, heat set then gave them a coat of Clear Rock Candy DCP and let air dry.

I distressed the edges of the panel with my paper distresser then inked with Black Soot DI and my ink blending tool.  I adhered all of the pieces in place with a combination of matte Decou-Page and hot glue and added a piece of cheesecloth behind the wood element to soften it up a bit.  When the word bands and token were set in place, I outlined with Walnut Stain DM, smudged with my water brush then outlined in white gel pen.

There you go, another day at the Boardwalk, Down by the Sea!!  I swear I can smell the salt water and feel the ocean breeze just looking at this card!!

Thanks so much for joining me here at Artistic Outpost today!!  Don't forget to bring your Artistic Outpost creations to our monthly Show Us Your AO Art Challenge!!  There's plenty of time to enter and we'd love to see your AO Art!!

Wonderful Shari, love the wood 'fence' behind your vintage gent and the textured bubbles and colour palette really evoke the seaside. Great piece, thanks for sharing it!
