Small packages...

Hello everyone, Alison here, with a small and simple offering today.

This is done on one of the small papier-mâché hanging boards, so it's less than 6 inches tall and about 2.5 inches wide (didn't measure the depth, sorry - I guess about half an inch).
This one had actually been through a couple of layers of crackle paint technique that wasn't quite doing it for me.  So, in the end, I gave it a really thick coat of white acrylic, using a hard bristle brush so that I got really strong texture in the paint.
I stamped the adorable little boy from the Bluebird set onto a tea-stained tag using Sepia Archival.
I roughened the edges with the Paper Distresser, and smeared on some gesso with my fingers for a  weathered look.
The meadow grasses around the bottom of the plaque are from Generation Redux, again stamped in Sepia.  These hedgerow flowers are so beautiful - very delicate and, as you see, very small images.

The sentiment is from the Think and Wonder set, and seemed appropriate for the little boy as well as for this little hanging board.
So that's that, really... I toyed with adding some wooden flourishes to echo those in the image, and I played with a couple of other embellishments but, in the end, I liked it best in the simplest possible form.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  As long as you include at least one Artistic Outpost image, we'd love you to join in with the Referral Program here this month - so come and play.  See you again soon.

How precious!! Love the image. The sentiment is perfect for it!! I agree ... any other embellishments would have taken away from the feel of this piece. There is an old Quaker song that starts out with "'Tis a gift to be simple." This hanging is a gift. -- Mary Elizabeth

This is wonderful Alison. I love the texture made with the brush and the simple colour theme. The wild flower stamps are really sweet and very apt for the little boy in his countryside get up.

Alison, I wish I could sit beside you and watch you create. You come up with the most beautiful monochromatic and neutral pieces which I find so challenging. You have such an eye for combining elements to move the eye around the art and have constant but not competing interest. This piece is awesome. I love the size and shape as well as the fabulous combination of stamps and tones. ...sigh...beautiful.
