Artistic Outpost March Release and Special

Here at Artistic Outpost, we are celebrating SPRING!

It's been one of those wet and cold winters. We're ready to craft in the sunshine.  Our Ott lites are wonderful, but there is nothing like natural sunlight coming through the window shining on your work table...just makes us feel good.

When putting together a stamp collection, we draw on inspirations from all around:  artwork, antique photos, movies, and books.  You'll definitely see the literary references in our newest releases.

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald is my favorite book of all time.  I won't get into a diatribe of why, because frankly, it would bore you all.  However, I know you will love the stamps inspired by the "jazz age". We have two NEW half sheet collections that you are going to think are the "bee's knees".
First we have the eponymous titled Gatsby which features our version of the main characters in photograph style with deco backgrounds.  Because of my love of "Scott", there is also a stamp featuring this giant with one of his most famous lines.

Flapper Fashions is just that a wonderful collection of "flappers".  You will find the size of these dames are PERFECT for card making and mixed media projects.  Just check out how our design team has used these lovely ladies with our other sets.

We also pay tribute this release to another literary great, Mark Twain.  His wit is still inspiring, and his tales from "life on the Mississippi" are definitely worth celebrating.  We pay homage to Samuel Clemens this release with Huck Finn.  A collection of collage and illustration images featuring Huck, paddle boats, and that friend of his Tom Sawyer.

Our fourth release this spring, is all about light and new beginnings. What doors will you open this spring?  In what window will the sun shine the brightest?  Windows and Doors features background and focal images that capture those questions. What is behind that garden gate?  Get inspired and tell us.

All of our new stamp sets are available both as unmounted red rubber sheets for $14.00 or pre-cut and mounted on EZMount cling foam for $22.99.

Through April 15th, when you purchase all four of these sets, we will give you a 15% discount.  Please note you must purchase all four.  Simply use the code:  GATSBY during check out.

Be sure to check out the galleries featuring the beautiful cards, tags, and mixed media projects by our super talented design team and visit their blogs for more inspiration:

Born to Stand Out

The challenge this week at the Friday Mash-up was to make a Zoo-themed card. I decided that my elephant from Send in the Clowns started out at the Zoo, but ran away to join the circus. I stamped the elephant once on my background and again on yellow designer paper to paper-piece the ball.

And since my Zoo Elephant ran away to be a Circus Elephant, I thought the sentiment from Think & Wonder worked perfectly. I finished with the fun bunting flag banner from Country Life.

And Does the Crown Fit?

The Garden of Live Flowers
`Are there any more people in the garden besides me?'
Alice said, not choosing to notice the Rose's last remark.
`There's one other flower in the garden that can move about like you,' said the Rose. `I wonder how you do it -- ' (`You're always wondering,' said the Tiger-lily), `but she's more bushy than you are.'

Connie here, to share a card with you...Yes everyone would like to be a queen; and, "If the Crown Fits" and we know it will.. then Queens we shall be!!The background on my card was created using a Technique from Pat's Stamps Technique Junkies called "Mono Masking".

The  floral frame Alice Stamp  is from Artistic Outpost's famous "Wonderland Collage".
For the background I used a beautiful mini background stamp from "Jane's Countryside"  and the ornate butterfly is  from the Artistic Outpost stamp plate, called "Happiness".

A Lovely Day

I added some French collage papers along with several stamps from the A Lovely Day set to create this card.  This is one of my favorite sets.  I only wish spring would show up in my neighborhood.  We are still looking at temperatures below freezing!

The Time Is Now

Hi, Lisa here today sharing a card made with the beautiful images from the Artistic Outpost Serenity plate. I inked up the flourish grouping from the Serenity in Black Archival to add interest to the bird cage die cut. I cut away part of the cage to add the butterfly. The butterfly is also from this plate, stamped in Black Archival on Watercolor paper then colored using the Marker Watercoloring Technique, and placed on dimensionals, over the opening in the cage.

Don't forget to enter your Artistic Outpost creations in the Monthly Referral Contest, we'd love to see what you've been creating!

Songbirds, Clean and Simple

Hi, Barbara here. Sometimes just a sentiment in a pretty frame can be the makings of a simple, but beautiful card. This CAS card was created using a base card made of textured cardstock and a die cut label. The stamps, frame and sentiment are from the stamp sheet, Songbirds. Because the sentiment was longer that the area across the frame, I inked half of the stamp at a time and stamped it on two lines. The frame is such a beautiful stamp for framing sentiments or small images. A little distress ink was used along the edges of the label and voila!

Bloom Where You're Planted

I stamped the Marigolds from Bloom & Grow first on green designer paper and then again on a scrap of yellow paper to paper piece the blooms. I added the worker bee from the set in the upper right-hand corner.

Telegraph Station

Here's a card I created with Steampunk and Ephemeral Backgrounds!
I used several images from Speampunk
to create a collage for the background image.
I added just a touch of color with Distress inks.
Somehow I always imagine a train station when I think of telegrams!
The telegram title is from Ephemeral Backgrounds
The images from Epehmeral Backgrounds are such great complements to all the other sets!
Have a creative day!

Butterflies of Wonder

Happy Friday. Suzz here.

Love the sweet expression on this little girl from the Think and Wonder plate. She looks deep in thought.  I paired her up with some beautiful Websters Pages papers to compliment her.  I added a little bow and stamped the think and wonder sentiment on the same paper. The image is colored using watercolor pencils and a water brush.

Hope you have fun plans for the weekend and they involve inky time!

Paris Exposition

I dream of Paris and one day being able to visit. Until then I always
find inspiration in one of my all time favorite sets.
Paris Exposition.
I don't think I will ever get tired of this set!!!
A little stamping here and there, some flowers, lace and ribbon and pretty papers
all make for a easy to create card.

Happiness

Barbara here to spread a little happiness. I used stamps from the Thai Buddha stamp set. The set has lovely images and such beautiful sentiments. For my main image I used the abalone technique from Tchnique Junkies. For the color I used Perfect Pearls. The sentiment was stamped in white pigment ink. The background used the double bugging technique. Over the first embossing I used tumbles glass distress ink. For the second embossing I used victorian velvet distress ink. I added a little bling to the side for sparkle. Hopefully this card will bring a little happiness to those who see it.

Laughter is the Best Medicine

I love this clown's hand from Send in the Clowns is perfectly positioned to hold a flower ... a flower that squirts water of course. I poked two small holes with my craft knife, and was able to slide the stem through the back before attaching the image to the card.

I think this fun guy would lift anyone's spirits.

Birds of a Feather Collage

I combined a few stamps from Birds of a Feather and Generation Redux to create this collaged tag.  I like the way the stamps from the different Artistic Outpost sets work so well together!

Think and Wonder Notebook

The kids from Think and Wonder are great for the cover of this little notebook that I put together.  In the background behind them is the journal page from Ephemeral Backgrounds.  I've added ink around the edges.  I stamped "Think and Wonder" and cut it apart to create a title.  I've also used the journal page stamp on the inside pages.  What a great little book to write inspirations and ideas for stamping projects!
Have a stamping good day!

Oh Happy Day

I am in love with the backgrounds from Ephemeral Backgrounds.  They work so beautifully with all the sets. I paired them up with the gorgeous SongBirds Plate to create this golden celebration card. I used an embossing folder on the background and placed it on a gold card base.  The frame and birds were stamped with versamark and embossed in gold. The background was repeatedly stamped using a brown pigment ink and sponge the edges with brown dye ink.

Have a wonderful Friday!

Mini book- school days

Lynn here and I Love finding different things to alter. In this case a mini composition book.
Stamped the image from the new Think and Wonder plate on tissue paper
then used multi medium to collage the background papers, some of Tim's tissue tape.
Then added a metal corner and a vintage pen nib. Easy Peasy!

Spring is Here

Barbara here with a little bit of spring. I chose stamps from Birds of a Feather for my spring creation. This was one of the first AO stamp sets I ordered. I'm like a kid when I see my first robin of the season. I just love the bird images and the nest stamps so fantastically. The sentiment and flower flourish is my way of expressing hope that this long, dreary winter will soon end. The background was created using a rainbow pad and brayer. By brayering in different directions I avoided the striped look we often get with the rainbow pad.

Off to Neverland

Hi Lisa here today, sharing the sweet Tinkerbell image from the Artistic Outpost Neverland plate.  I did a little bit of masking to fit Tinkerbell into the collage frame from this plate, doesn't she look cute!  The images are stamped in Black Archival on Watercolor paper, then colored with Markers and an H20 Brush.

If the Crown Fits

I decorated a journal with this tag I created from the Wonderland Collage set.    I thought it would create a fun diary for a "little princess" or an Alice in Wonderland fan.
I stamped Alice out twice and then gave her some dimension as well as adding some tiny pink pearls to her crown.  I colored in the frame around Alice with glitter pens which gives it a nice sparkle.

Happy Day!

Happy Day, everyone!

Today, I have a card created with Songbirds! This is such a beautiful set!
I stamped the birds on a branch with Denim ink and added just a touch of color with Copic markers.  They're mounted over an opening in the checked mat.  On the piece behind them I've stamped the music from Ephemeral Backgrounds.  I masked off the "Oh," to stamp just "Happy Day!" on the banner.

Have a creative day!

Wonder and Think

The  boy from the Think and Wonder Plate is handsome in his outfit and I thought it would be fun to cut him out from his background and create a little scene.   I created the background using the music and postmark  from Ephemeral Backgrounds plate. The fence and bushes are from the Vintage Halloween plate.  The fence is stamped on acetate using StazOn black ink. The birds on a wire are from the BlueBird plate.

Have a great weekend!

Think and Wonder

This little sweetheart and the sentiment are from the stamp sheet Think and Wonder. I just love the innocent look in her eyes. I used the Patchwork technique from The June/July Technique Junkies newsletter. The background was colored with distress inks and then waterstamped using the large background stamp from Ephemeral Backgrounds. The image is somewhat muted; the water against the distress inks works somewhat like stamping with bleach. The flower is made of two white silk flowers. The larger was stamped with the background stamp in black ink. The middle smaller flower was stamped and painted. Faux stitches were used to faux sew the sections of the patchwork together.
